The participants of the workshop will get to know some interesting differences and similarities in techniques, targets and strategies in using the Half Staff, Poleaxe and Halberd according to Paulus Hector Mair’s Opus Amplissimum de Arte Athletica (MSS Dresd.C.93/C.94). The goal of this workshop is having fun with polearms, however on a didactical level it shall enable the serious disciple of the art to use the different polearms in a more efficient way.
Skill level of Participants: All skill levels
Needed Equipment: You will need light gloves, mask, Half Staff and Poleaxe.
About the trainer – Christian Stickel
Christian Stickel began his journey into martial arts and knighthood as a kid and ever since explored different systems of weaponless and weapon based fighting styles. As part of the European reenactment movement he has done things with swords for the last 25 years. For the past 10 years he has been teaching regular HEMA classes three times a week as part of the university sports program in Fulda/Germany and has given workshops at several events.
