The techniques come from Hans Talhoffer’s books, which we have curated into different categories according to their use.

About the trainer – Joeli Takala

I have been practicing HEMA for 15 years and I am mostly focusing on messer and ringen. I was originally trained in Italian styles of historical combat including the nuts and bolts of teaching and interpreting old sources. From there I delved into Lecküchner, Talhoffer and von Auerswald. My own club has focused on ringen since the beginning and has produced a fair amount of historical wrestlers. Aside from teaching and competing, I have worked in the National Opera of Finland as a stage fighter for few years. I’ve also acted as a stage fighter and fight coordinator in various projects on theatre stages, museums, orchestra plays, and cinema.
