Shephards strike and Brain blow – having fun with Meyer`s staff!

We will examine some of Meyers guards and strikes for fencing with the staff. Then we will cover defences and movement patterns necessary to wield this weapon. If time permits, we will also practice a flow drill, that covers some of Meyer`s basic staff movements.
Skill level of Participants: All skill levels
Needed Equipment: Fencing mask, gloves, a staff of 180-200 cm (only a few staffs can be provided)
About the trainer – Alex Kiermayer
Having been termed a coelacanth of German HEMA, I´ve been practicing HEMA for quite a long time now. My focus is on the development of fencing in Germany and on having a broad perspective on Historical Martial Arts in general. In cooperation with the Bavarian fencing federation I´m teaching in state-recognised trainer-qualifications.
