The Wholesome Warrior: Integrate intuitive movement into Liechtenauer’s Longsword

Weapon: Longsword
Source: Liechtenauer (44A8, MS 3227a, Talhoffer), Joachim Meyer
Discover the foundation of martial arts: In this workshop, we will transform primal movement patterns into fluid technique with the longsword—following the maxim: “Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.”
I believe fencing with the longsword should be a healthy endeavor. Therefore, a strong foundation is needed. That’s your body and its natural movement economy. This workshop is an invitation to discover what your body unconsciously already knows and how to integrate that into your practice.
We will reactivate fundamental movement patterns, such as efficient weight shifting, grounding, and rotation. These patterns foster physiological body mechanics and form the base for every fencing action.
We will translate these natural movement patterns directly into fundamental techniques of the Liechtenauer longsword tradition. Experience how clean, slow execution transforms with increasing confidence into effortless, powerful, and sustainable fencing movements.
This workshop is aimed at absolute beginners as well as experienced fencers of all levels who wish to connect intuition to their fundamentals and elevate their technique to a healthier and more holistic level.
Skill level of Participants: Any skill level
Needed Equipment: MIN Longsword REC Mask (including Back of the head protection and gorget) & light glooves
