Two pieces of armor (small shoulders) were made from different types of bloomery steel. Description and documentation of the making of the sheet metal will be shown as well as pictures of the production of the pieces. Interpretation of behaviour, comparison with modern steel and conclusion as well as open questions and remaining topics are to be expected. The pieces can be examined on site.

About the trainer – Wolfgang Putz
Wolfgang Putz (born 1964) is a physicist and an armorer. He joined Dreynschlag at 2000 or 2001.
He has been an armorer for more than 20 years. He made his master blacksmith exam as an armorer with the topic of a gothic suit of armor.
His workshop is located in the vicinity of Vienna. Beside reconstruction of late medieval armor he is mainly interested in finding out “how they did it in the old days”.
