Weapon: Scottish Broadsword
Source: Thomas Page, 1746, The Use of the Broadsword
I will go over the fundamentals of Scottish Broadsword as used in the Highlands. You will learn the guards, cuts, footwork and and maybe some early techniques from which you could continue into more advanced techniques in your own time.
We will also look at how this compares to both slightly later British Military Sabre, and earlier Dussack, the latest source of which (Theodori Verolini, 1679) only predate Broadsword manuals by a few decades.
Skill level of Participants: Any skill level
Needed Equipment: Mask and Basket Hilt Broadsword (other cut and thrust one-handed swords will suffice if needed) Recommended: Sabre and/or dussack (for comparisons), forearm guards
