The art of the Verdadera Destreza is strongly linked to the Spanish rapier but this relation is rather to be considered as a 1:n relation. According to this, we will have a look at an exaple when Destreza principleas are applied to the sabre. Main authors who allow this outlook are the Merelo brothers and De Frías.

Weapon: Sabre, preferably a light (please spare me the Jedi stuff here) and slightly curved one

Source: Merelo Brothers and De Frías

Participants will be introduced to the basic principles of Verdadera Destreza, at least as far as it is necessary to master the techniques according to the mentioned sources. We will examine the differences between Destreza saber fencing compared to classical Destreza sources, as well as those that can be understood in relation to sources that present “traditional” saber fencing.

Skill level of Participants: Any skill level
Needed Equipment: Sabre, mask and gloves are must. Who intends to practice in a free fencing-like way, may bring jackets and protective gear that is usually used to fence sabre.
